Cardiothoracic ITU has an opportunity for further development in management and leadership in the role of a Band 6 Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse.

Main duties of the job

You will be an integral part of the leadership team, possess problem solving and analytical decision making skills, manage staffing issues and bed utilisation throughout the division. the post holder will have excellent communication skills coordinating operational activities during a shift span on a frequent occasions with senior sister support.

The role epitomises a level of experience and expertise which allows the facilitation of good evidence based practice, ensuring high standards of quality patient care, supporting staff development through teaching and assessing and service development.

You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:

  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

  • oCurrent Nursing & Midwifery Council Registration.
  • oRelevant critical care course or cardiothoracic course at Diploma/Degree level

  • leadership course


Experience

Essential

  • oPost registration experience in critical care with an interest in cardiothoracics.


Desirable

  • oPrevious experience of working in this specialty.
