We are looking for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Early Years Complex Needs team based at the Child Development Centre, Milton Keynes Hospital. Full time and part time requests will be considered.

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 SLT within the Early Years complex needs team you will support assessment and intervention of children with a range of long term and complex health and learning needs. The role is varied and you will be working within clinics with some visits to Early Years settings. There are several Associate Practitioners who support the work of the SLTs by providing a wide range of interventions and there is excellent admin support. The team also provide an in-patient and outpatient paediatric dysphagia service. This post does not require clinical dysphagia skills but is an area where we are able to support clinical practice based on post-holders preferences.

Access to your own transport is essential as you will be travelling around the locality as part of your job. You will generally not have to travel more than 15 minutes to different settings thanks to the dual roads and grid system. We are continuing to offer families both face to face and virtual appointments dependent on circumstances and preference. Our staff are enjoying working together in clinics and meeting face to face in groups again, whilst following Covid-19 safety guidance.

About us

Our teams are well established and work collaboratively with other agencies to empower settings to create and sustain communication supportive environments and to develop targeted and specialist provision of pupils with identified SLCN. This is achieved through a combination of consultation, training, assessment and intervention packages. Our service is jointly commissioned by health and education, allowing us to provide a seamless pathway of care from early years through to schools, specialist provisions and further education settings.

We are a forward-thinking service committed to ongoing development, embracing change and innovation and driven by evidence-based practice. We place high emphasis on clinical supervision and pastoral needs with personalised CPD opportunities. The Trust has an extensive range of employee benefits available and you will be fully supported with a comprehensive welcome induction into the service.

Milton Keynes is a growing and vibrant city with easy access to the M1 and superb facilities in terms of everyday living and leisure activities.
