We have an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Manager who will provide comprehensive technical expertise to maintain and expand our digital infrastructure whilst leading a team of technical specialists/engineers.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of a range of complex infrastructure technology environments and ensure that critical digital systems support the best possible standards of patient care.

The post will be based at either Conquest Hospital, St Leonards-on-Sea or Eastbourne DGH, with the requirement to work cross-site and with opportunities for some remote working.

Main duties of the job

As the technical lead for infrastructure services, the post holder will ensure that operational service levels are met with an emphasis on the availability, confidentiality and integrity of those services to meet digital service key performance indicators and policies.

They will act as the technical lead for infrastructure components on projects and the implementation of complex infrastructure environments.

Working with all areas of ESHT Digital, the post holder will be expected to provide vision and innovation, reviewing new and emerging technologies and providing recommendations for the introduction of new products and services.

Out of hours support is provided by the department and active participation in this is a requirement of the post.

Person Specification



  • Master's degree or equivalent in related subject or minimum five years' experience in similar role


  • ITIL knowledge



  • Knowledge of managing support services for complex enterprise level server and storage environments
  • Experience of Enterprise level SAN storage technology and Infrastructure services
  • Experience of Enterprise Level data centre hosting technology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory services
  • Experience of software deployment and release management
  • Experience of Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of virtualised server platforms including VMware products
  • Managing complex projects
  • Experience with Azure, and management of cloud migration projects


  • Proven experience in delivering successful technical projects
  • Ability to manage third party suppliers to deliver against an agreed specification
  • Experience with an AD migration
  • Understanding of IG, compliance & audit
  • Working in a Healthcare environment



  • Establish and maintain working relationships with variety of colleagues
  • Can present technical information clearly to non technical colleagues
  • Able to plan, organise and prioritise own time and that of team members


  • Able to manage a number of diverse and complex projects simultaneously
