The role of the Macmillan Head and Neck Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist is vital to the patient journey, acting as a core member of the clinical team, responsible for the provision of high-quality pain services based at Southend Hospital but may require to attend other sites

Main duties of the job

  • Providing expert specialist clinical advice for patients, carers and health care professionals
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based policies / protocols and guidelines within the specialty in collaboration with other professional groups and users.
  • Keep accurate patient records and ensure the patient pathway is coordinated and supported

  • Ensuring the provision of appropriate verbal and written patient information, thus empowering the patient to make informed decisions
  • Support the implementation of research and audit findings.
  • Coordinate clinical and support services relevant to specialty.
  • Organise own specialist workload, including education & training being able to flexibly respond to changing situations
