Do you hold the potential to make a real difference to nutritional health and wellbeing across the population of Anglesey and Gwynedd?

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead in the delivery of our Public Health Dietetic service across the West area of our health board. Through this role you will lead a small team or registered dietitians and dietetic assistants to oversee, and contribute to the planning, coordination, and evaluation of projects and initiatives that facilitate improved food and nutrition knowledge and skills across a range of key individuals with the ability to then cascade these messages across our communities.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing cohesive plans within our continually evolving, but well established Public Health dietetic services. This includes co-production with key partners, and expanding networks to deliver key priorities whilst maintaining a flexibility to respond to the needs within our community. Strategic direction will be provided by the public health dietetic service lead, and there will be regular collaboration with the wider team, plus fellow public health dietetic teams across Wales to deliver programmes of work forming part of the award winning Nutrition Skills for LifeTM

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with other Dietitians and support workers within the West Area and across BCUHB and will be fully supported with your professional development.

To lead the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of best practice in relation to community development/public health dietetics in the West area of the Health Board area working as an integral member of and in partnership with the multi-disciplinary teams within and out with health including social care, local authority, education and the third sector.

Deliver highly specialist seamless dietetic services to individuals and groups in the areas identified above through the use of a variety of education approaches supporting management of wider stakeholders to build capacity in the community through consistent nutrition messages, through delivery of accredited and non accredited courses.

Team leads delegated nutrition and dietetic staff ensuring consistent evidence based standards of care and effective multi-disciplinary working across BCUHB acting as an integral support to the Service Lead for Public Health dietetics.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification



  • oState registered Dietitian (with HCPC)
  • oRecognised qualification degree / equivalent in dietetics
  • oAccredited post graduate study relevant to clinical area at masters level or equivalent


  • oOther professional, technical or academic qualification which relate to clinical practice
  • Motivational Interviewing techniques



  • oBroad, well established dietetic practice
  • oSignificant experience of dietetic delivery in the field of public health
  • oExperience of team leadership
  • Delegation to qualified and non qualified staff


  • oExperience of project management
  • oExperience in leading service development / improvement.
  • oLine management



  • oProven well developed communication skills at a variety of levels
