Main duties of the job

Chapel Allerton Theatres are a well-experienced multidisciplinary Team and practice the Leeds way principles when delivering the highest level of patient care.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their commitment to developing the service, Provide clinical leadership and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

As an experienced practitioner the jobholder will co-ordinate activities within the peri-operative environment ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff within the department. He/she will play a key role in the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

The jobholder will play an essential role assisting Team Leader in leading and teaching the peri-operative teams throughout the day. The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the peri-operative team and ensuring effective management of the department in the absence of the Team Leader.

About us

Our unit consist of four theatres within the suite.

Three of the theatres are elective Orthopaedic and the fourth is utilised by spines.

As a dedicated elective Orthopaedic department, we provided a range procedure ranging from minor through to complex revision surgery.

Job responsibilities

As an experienced practitioner the jobholder will co-ordinate activities within the peri-operative environment ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff within the department. The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the peri-operative team and ensuring effective management of the department in the absence of the Team Leader.

  • Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Experience at Advanced Peri-operative Practitioner or equivalent
  • Experience within Relevant Speciality
  • Clinical audit and standard setting
  • Working with a wide range of professional colleagues
