18 month fixed term post MRI Superintendent Radiographer Band 7 at St. Bartholomew's Hospital

We have dynamic clinical teams and are looking for a visible and motivating leader with a strong focus on MRI Imaging. This Position will be an 18 month maternity leave fixed term post based at St. Bartholomew's Hospital which is in the heart of the City of London- St. Paul's.

We are looking for an individual who is specialised in MRI scanning and keen to lead the SBH MRI team. Encouragement will be given to staff who wish to pursue post graduate studies.

Key working relationships will be with the Imaging head of radiography, MRI Lead Radiographer, Radiologists, MRI & rotational radiographers, imaging assistants and other clinical and professional staff.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate post graduate experience in MRI. Training of rotational radiographers in MRI will be essential, as will the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with Radiologists and ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures. The candidate will be encouraged to participate in the extended working week (Monday-Friday 08:00-20:00, and 08:45-16:30 at the weekends).

It is essential to have good organisational skills. The successful candidate will need to be motivated and be able to demonstrate how they motivate their team

Main duties of the job

To lead the technical /radiographic staff, and to further develop an efficient MRI service for St. Bartholomew's Hospital site.

To develop and maintain the MRI service, standardising protocols, managing the patient bookings and waiting lists, and managing the rotation of radiographers and imaging assistants throughout all areas.

To organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of MRI scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.

To provide an effective operational lead radiographer role for the MRI service at the The St. Bartholomew's Hospital site.

In conjunction with the MRI Managers, promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the MRI service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re-design.

The Post-holder will manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services. The post-holder will ensure the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives for staff and through leadership, motivation and systematic performance management, achieve the required results.

  • Extensive experience as a MRI radiographer
  • Wide experience of MRI service scanning equipment & techniques
