The post will report to Director of Finance - Provider and will have day to day responsibility for the co-ordination and provision of all financial support functions to the Health Board in relation to the activity of their assigned Hospital.
The Health Board is a complex organisation and the post holder will need to provide professional support and leadership to the finance team as well as a wide range of other colleagues and stakeholders.
The post holder will ensure efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of financial systems and processes.
Main duties of the job
This post holder is expected to contribute strategic financial advice to support the delivery and development of patient care and services throughout their assigned Hospital. The post covers the key services provided on the Acute Hospital sites
The post holder will be based within the Hospital and will work mainly autonomously away from the Finance Department. However, as a very senior member of the finance department will be required to lead on key financial initiatives.
A strategic and broad understanding of the financial environment that the NHS works within is essential as is an understanding of the full range of services the Health Board offers and how these services are operated in the context of patient need and demand.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Qualified accountant member of CCAB institute, with sufficient post qualification experience.
- Extensive evidence of CPD
- Masters level qualification or equivalent experience.

- Experience of senior finance position in large organisation at or just below Board level.
- Experience of working with Board Members and Senior Executives and Senior Clinical Leads
- Ability to make complex decisions on a range of financial issues and cost benefit analysis where there may be no previous precedent.
- Wide range of experience in the finance function, particularly within the areas of Management Accounting, Sustainability and Reporting.
- Experience of preparing Business Cases, conducting service reviews and benchmarking in a large organisation
- In depth knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and financial aspects of NHS Legislation and policy
- Political awareness of the National and Welsh Government Agenda.
- A proven track record of dealing with highly complicated situations and the delivery of challenging corporate objectives
- Experience of working within a highly complex and politically sensitive organisation
- General managerial experience of staff, resources and the NHS service.
- Evidence of successfully influencing senior clinicians and other professionals and working with a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of Managing Staff.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of financial management systems and performance analysis tools. Detailed knowledge of a wide range of areas in the finance function. Professional knowledge and understanding of accounting and governance policies and procedures.
