Independent practitioner in echocardiography and cardiac rhythm management (bradycardia device implantation and follow up)
  • To work as a highly specialist cardiac physiologist ideally in the fields of both echocardiography and pacing supporting the wider MDT in delivering safe, effective and efficient cardiology services within Somerset Foundation Trust.
  • To work as an independent practitioner, accountable for own professional actions in performing and reporting on a full range of diagnostic procedures, assisting clinicians in the management of service users.
  • The role includes teaching, assessment and supervision of junior physiologists/healthcare scientists, medical students, and junior medical staff.
  • Work alongside clinical leads and service manager in the continued development of the diagnostic and pacing services taking a proactive approach in managing capacity and demand of services on a day to day basis.
  • To review and continually develop the diagnostic and pacing service as necessary in keeping with service demand also to help in the future planning of the echo service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Clinical Physiology (cardiology) or MSc Clinical Science (cardiac science) with equivalent professional training.
  • BSE Accreditation
  • at least 2 years of recent experience working as a specialist expert in echocardiography & pacing


Desirable

  • HCPC registration as clinical scientist or clinical physiologist
  • Experience of advanced pacing programming, NASPE qualification desirable
