Senior Strengthening Families Nurse (Health Visitor/SCPHN)

Full time / part time considered.

We are looking for a Health Visitor to join our team to support the Healthy Child Programme work with Children in Care (CLA).

This role may also involve the completion of the Review Health Assessments.

The post is temporary until end of August 2024. Secondment would be considered.

The Strengthening Families service works alongside families to identify health needs, offer support, implement a plan of care, signpost to other services and deliver the pre-school Healthy Child Programme.

The service is provided to families with children aged 0-19yrs who fit into the following categories - Child protection plan, Child In Need, Child looked after, and young people open to the Youth Offending Service.

Main duties of the job

The Strengthening Families team work with some of the most vulnerable families in the community. Their main priorities are to deliver the healthy child programme and to complete health assessments to identify any unmet health needs and then to support the family to address them.

Standard Check: �18 + Administration cost of �3.85 = �21.85. Deducted at �6.85 from 1st month salary and �5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: �38 + administration cost of �3.90 = �41.90. Deducted at �11.90 from 1st month salary and �10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification



  • Registered Nurse Qualification
  • Health Visiting / School Nursing Qualification and /or Community Specialist Practitioner in Public Health - Health Visiting/ or school Nursing (BSc. Hon)


  • ENB 998 Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice or equivalent
  • Leadership training and development.
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber statutory recordable qualification
  • Relevant degree qualification -Health related



  • Experience of working with children and families in a community setting
  • Experience of working on own or as part of a team
  • Experience and understanding of working within safeguarding procedures and guidelines processes
  • Experience of working to address health inequalities
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other professionals within the health economy and from other organisations
