Bank Emergency Department (ED) Nurse

University College London Hospitals are on the lookout for a committed and qualified ED nurse to join their highly skilled emergency department team within their busy A& E centre.

This is an excellent chance for an emergency department nurse to reach their full potential by working under pressure across a diverse selection of specialties. This role is ideal for someone with robust clinical knowledge, who values providing top-quality patient care as greatly as they value learning from some of the UKs leading emergency clinicians.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake assessment, identify problems, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects.
  • Organising and participating in the delivery of high standards of evidence-based nursing care.
  • Promote and assist the delivery of a high standard of care.
  • Continually updates or provides the patient with information in relation to their condition and/or their process through the department.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterised by trust, mutual respect, and open, honest communication. They will need to provide exceptional patient-centered care, with a strong emphasis on the fundamental aspects of care and clinical safety. The individual in this role will assist senior emergency nurses and the team in maintaining a high standard of care while adhering to their own professional scope of practice. Additionally, they will be responsible for upholding rigorous cleanliness standards within the service

Person Specification



  • Degree in Nursing

Additional Criteria


  • Strong clinical knowledge, good initiative, and a proactive approach to work Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Honesty and integrity, and a very caring patient-centred approach



  • At least 6 months (post preceptorship) NHS ward based experience within the last 3 years
