Are you passionate about reducing malnutrition and improving continuity of care for patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, particularly those with gastrointestinal and post-surgical nutritional needs? Do you want to be part of an enthusiastic MDT supporting patients with complex nutritional needs within Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced dietitian to join our acute team working across Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.

This forward thinking and proactive department welcomes applicants with an interest in acute dietetics who are passionate about reducing the risk of malnutrition for patients with complex nutritional needs.

We are looking for a highly efficient and dynamic team player who consistently produces a high standard of work and can work to deadlines.

Applicants will work across Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospital sites so the ability to travel between sites would therefore be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a specialist clinician within dietetics across both an inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • The prime function of the role is to provide clinical expertise in supporting the delivery of high standards of dietetic care for patients with complex gastrointestinal and post-surgical nutritional needs at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • To manage own caseload and to provide a high standard of assessment, management, treatment and advice to meet the needs of patients.
  • To work with other members of the team in the development of the service.
  • To represent the Dietetic Team and contribute to the development of the wider Therapy service within Clinical Therapies.

Person Specification



  • Qualified as a registered dietitian
  • At least 12 months post registration experience in dietetics
  • Experience working as part of an MDT
  • Experience of applying professional ethics in practice
  • Good working knowledge of the methods of enteral tube feeding


  • Clinical experience of working in an outpatient setting
  • Experience of training dietetic students
  • Complex gastro experience

Interpersonal Skills


  • Ability to acknowledge own limitations and seek assistance / support as appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Degree in Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • Relevant Post Registration training
  • HCPC UK Registered Dietitian
  • Willingness to maintain evidence of ongoing CPD


  • Post graduate study in appropriate clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Evidence of post registration CPD
  • Clinical supervisory course
  • Membership of the British Dietetic Association
  • Membership of relevant special interest groups
  • Keyboard and internet skills
