We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated clinical psychologist to join a busy and well respected Integrated Learning Disability Service, which covers the Lancashire locality. We are very pleased to be able to offer this senior post, which would be based in Fylde and Wyre.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a specific clinical lead roles in relation to psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with children and young people. They will contribute to the broader aims of the service through joint working, consultation, training, supervision and service development/research.

Main duties of the job

Service transformation has allowed the development of this new post in order to meet the needs of the service. Consequently, you will be joining the service at an exciting time and helping to influence change going forward. You will benefit from an enthusiastic, hard-working and supportive peer group and will be part of a community of psychological professionals within the Trust and Network.

The post-holder will receive regular supervision and professional support from a clinical psychologist, and contact with regional LD Faculty, is encouraged.

Training and professional development is supported and encouraged and the Trust has close links with all three North West Clinical Psychology Doctorate Courses.

Applications will be welcome from clinical psychologists. However, we would also be happy to consider applications, for the 8a, Senior Clinical Psychology post, from trainee clinical psychologists in their final year currently due to complete training in 2022.

Please note: This post is subject to an enhanced DBS Clearance. As part of the pre-employment checks, successful candidates will be required to pay for their own DBS check at a cost of £50. Deductions will be taken from the first 3 months salary.

Person Specification Education Essential
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical).
Knowledge Essential
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Knowledge of legislation, and its implications in relation to the client group and mental health, including child protection and its implications for both clinical practice and supervision.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year.
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working with children and their families/carers.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for client's psychological care and treatment both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of multidisciplinary care plan.
