We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to come and join our team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. We are looking to employ a skilled, forward thinking, dynamic individual as an AMU Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist.

Main duties of the job

The post is suitable for an experienced physiotherapist with past leadership and service development experience. The post will be operating across the Acute Medicine department including working in the Acute Medical Unit, The Higher Monitoring Unit and the Short Stay Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. It will involve working with individuals with a variety of complex needs and acute respiratory care, and will also involve working alongside AMU consultants and within a heavily integrated team. Weekend working and contribution to the respiratory on call service (via a rota) will be included.

The post holder will provide clinical specialist cover to the Higher Monitoring Unit (HMU) and will provide specialist acute respiratory care.

The successful applicant will have extensive NHS Acute-care experience and possess excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment and teaching skills. You will have sound IT skills and demonstrate the Trust's values of Compassion, Aspiration, Resourcefulness and Excellence.

Knowledge, skills & experience

Essential

  • Degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Extensive post graduate NHS clinical experience across all core clinical areas
  • Specialist knowledge of respiratory Physiotherapy and experience in respiratory settings
  • Specialist knowledge of current evidence based best practice in respiratory physiotherapy


Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a clinical specialist role
  • Previous experience working with consultants in a specialist capacity
  • Leadership course


Communication & organisational skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of motivating and developing clinical staff of all levels
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills


Desirable

  • Training and presentation skills
  • Experience of proactively engaging with service users and commissioners
