The post of Operational Manager for Wigan community is integral to the safe, effective and high quality community mental health services.

The post holder will take overall responsibility for the operations of the community services within their portfolio ensuring safe, efficient service delivery.

You will take part in the ongoing transformation of the Wigan specialist community mental health team as well as develop and implementing operational policies, procedures and systems to support the smooth running of the services.

The Operational Manager will provide clinical leadership and direction in partnership with the Consultant for teams in maintaining clinical and non-clinical standards of care and in implementing service improvements. The post holder will also play a proactive role in respective divisional SLT as required, and participate in the bronze manager on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

The Operational Manager f is responsible for providing quality and effective urgent care including management and performance of the teams within their portfolio. In addition, the Operational Manager participates in ensuring the health, wellbeing and development of the workforce.

The post holder will be a key part of the Wigan Directorate senior leadership team.

The post holder will be required to provide management and professional leadership to the Team Managers, and will be accountable for the teams' performance and all aspects of line management to the staff resource including the implementation of appraisal and professional development planning.

The role requires experience in managing change, managing priorities and maintaining resilience which will be key in the very exciting period of service development.

The post holder will, as required, participate in the Trusts on call rota for Bronze On-call Managers.
