We have a rare opportunity for an inspiring leader to take up a permanent role as our Senior Manager/OSM for Palliative Care.
The services consist of Consultants, Nurses, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, OTs, Carers and ancillary staff supporting patients, their families/carers at home, in acute and community hospitals and in our dedicated Palliative Care Inpatient Units.
We are looking for someone who already has extensive experience in operational management. You will support the General Manager and Head of Service to develop services in line with local commissioning arrangements and meet the needs of the local population. Relationships with acute, social care, voluntary sector and primary care services is vital to this role.
As well as effective communication skills you will have excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills with a strong team work ethic, and an ability to problem solve. You will have experience of analysing complex performance and operational data and using this to deliver service targets and improvements.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the management of Human Resources issues, and implementation of policy into practice. You will be required to conduct and case manage formal HR investigations, and will manage Complaints following the trust policy.
Applicants most hold a valid driving licence for travel across the geographical area of Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust.

- Manage staff in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and be ensuring effective systems for supervision, work allocation, target setting and performance appraisal are in place.
- To oversee the work of specified commissioning and provided services ensuring strategic direction and support leading to the delivery of high quality services for the people of Northumberland and North Tyneside.
- To assist with strategic workforce planning and the development associated plans.
- Work with the Head of Service to support change where required to deliver commissioning strategies.
- To oversee implementation of and adherence to key policy drivers
- To ensure that services meet the requirements of statutory regulatory agencies
- To be a representative as appropriate at management and officer groups and in meetings with non executives, elected members and external organisations at local, national and provincial level, providing advice and information as required.

- Ensure effective participation in the development of strategic plans across community services. Contribute to the organisational development agenda and participate and advise upon meaningful human resource strategies.

- Promote and develop joint working across health and social care in line with strategic direction for active and transparent partnership working.
- Ensure the delivery of all service level agreements within agreed tolerance levels, highlighting any areas of potential non-compliance with the Head of Service Plan. Contribute to the development of the Annual Agreement and Service Level Agreement review.
- Effectively manage and lead organisational change to meet the future needs of the service both at a trust level and with interagency colleagues.
- Lead the development of the Clinical and Corporate Governance agenda at a local level and engage in activities that continuously improve the quality of services provided.
