Marlborough House Adolescent Unit
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Band 6 Charge Nurse post to work as part of an established and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team on a 12 bedded Adolescent Inpatient Unit at Marlborough House in Swindon, Wiltshire.
Marlborough House is a specialist Tier 4 Service for children and young people ages 11yrs to 18yrs provided by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
With a reputation for excellence and providing a range of evidence based care, our service offers a stepped model of care which is tailored to the individual’s needs for stabilisation and recovery. We also offer a range of therapies and experiences to assist in each young person’s recovery journey and work in partnership with our community colleagues.
We plan discharge from the moment a young person is admitted and work very closely with families.
Individuals applying for this post will require a positive “can do” attitude and first rate clinical skills and knowledge to work with very complex and often challenging young people. Also essential is a calm and reflective nature and the ability to offer leadership and containment to the ward, at times as the senior nurse on duty out of hour. Previous knowledge and experience of an acute ward setting is essential for this position and CAMHS experience is desirable.
As a Charge Nurse you will work closely with the Unit’s Modern Matron and Clinical Nurse Lead and will be an integral part of the MDT.
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills that can be used within a multi-disciplinary team. They will have a good sound knowledge of CAMHS and the Mental Health Act as well as current models of nursing and evidence based care. They will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients and staff whilst delivering the highest possible standard of care to our young people.
