Ever considered Prison healthcare ?An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled clinician with demonstrated leadership and management skills to take up the post of Clinical Matron for the Integrated Mental Health Team at HMP North Sea Camp. We don'thave in-patient beds.We do operate as a Primary care centre. We do have mental health nurses, ND nurses, practice nurses, GPs, physio, dentist, optician, podiatrist, psychiatrist, psychologists and administrators!! And we do have an exciting opportunity to for a Band 7 Clinical Matron of our Integrated Mental Health team providing a level of care to up to 420 men, that is at the least equivalent to what they would expect to receive in the community.

Main duties of the job

Healthcare delivery in prison is never dull or predictable - it is very rewarding. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences to you as a qualified professional. The Integrated Mental Health team consists of senior mental health nurses, ND nurse, psychology, support workers and psychiatry provision who provide a stepped model approach to care provision and cover all aspects of mental health needs. The team provides case management and group work. The team have good working relationships with the Prison staff which is reflected in excellent health outcomes for our most vulnerable men.

Job responsibilities

HMP North Sea Camp is a category D prison for sentenced men. Located in Boston, Lincolnshire.

You will be responsible for providing clinical and managerial leadership to a high standard, promoting best practice and developing Mental Health services to enhance quality and improve patient experience. You will be working alongside other healthcare professionals in the wider healthcare team you will have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible to our patients at HMP North Sea Camp.

Person Specification
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse/Learning Disability First Level Registration
  • Master's degree or equivalent Evidence of CPD

  • Mentorship qualification

  • Experience of Managing teams and services
  • Experience of performance Management
  • Knowledge and Experience in the provision of care to the complex needs of mental health patients

  • Experience of developing services
  • Experience of working with offenders/criminal justice system

  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches used in secure environments including the Recovery Agenda
  • Knowledge and understanding of the interface across Clinical pathways
  • Extensive knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches to care
  • Knowledge and experience of risk assessment and implementation and a sound knowledge of safeguarding

  • Experience of working with offenders/criminal justice system
  • Experience of developing services

  • Teaching and influencing negotiation and supervision skills
  • Excellent patient focused assessment skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a Multidisciplinary team as a senior member and represent nursing perspective in a variety of settings
  • Commitment to clinical and managerial supervision
