INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) TRUST EMPLOYEES ONLY
Research Practitioner/Nurse, Band 6, fixed term
Join a small friendly department committed to developing and retaining its members of staff to maintain and further cultivate a high performing, cohesive team, the members of which enjoy coming to work and feel valued.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research Team to cultivate and deliver research across the Trust. This post will have a particular focus on the newly formed alcohol care team and the post holder will be expected to work with the clinical team to develop and enhance research in this area along side our existing research staff. There will also be an opportunity to cover other studies in other clinical areas depending on the overall capacity of the research team and types of studies available at the time. We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and energetic nurse/AHP/Practitioner with a good generic background at either senior band 5 or band 6 level. You will be part of a dynamic team driving forward research across the trust helping to promote and run research in departments which have no embedded research support. You will be fully supported by the team and the Principal Investigators.
The successful candidate should be well organised, be able to manage their time effectively and have the mental agility to successfully switch between specialities, sometimes at short notice as the trials demand.
Main duties of the job
In the research practitioner role you will work with the principal investigators from set up to closure of both commercial and academic clinical trials, all in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways of patients and carers participating in research studies and ensuring good communication with other members of the Department, R& D and CRN. You will have responsibility for the delivery of direct and indirect care within your own caseload, working collaboratively with members of multi-disciplinary research teams whilst always complying with GCP.
You will need a good clinical knowledge with a desire to learn in order to work effectively in various departments. This knowledge will be key to ensure that the patients feel well cared for and supported during their research journey. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the research process.
You will be supported through your research work by the departments as the role involves using an in-depth knowledge of clinical trial protocols and their application in practice. You will need a working knowledge of the local, national and international research regulations to ensure effective running of studies to research governance standards.
About us
At NCIC, we have an ambition to deliver outstanding hospital and health services to half a million people. Established on 1st October 2019, the Trust is creating a centre of excellence in providing rural and remote healthcare and provides a wide range of community and acute services throughout north Cumbria and beyond. We're responsible for delivering over 70 services across 15 main locations and we employ more than 6,500 members of staff.
Our 5 key principles demonstrate our belief in the delivery of 'safe, high quality care every time'.
As an organisation we are serious about supporting a diverse workforce that reflects our local community and are very much focused on being an inclusive and compassionate place to work.
Across the North East and North Cumbria we are working together to deliver our ambition to be the greenest region in England by 2030. There is an expectation for all staff to support this by familiarising yourself with the Trust's sustainability initiatives such as waste and recycling, going paperless, videoconferencing, sustainable transport and others.
We encourage you to think about what you can do as an individual and within your team to contribute in to embedding carbon reduction into the everyday running of our organisation.
