Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Secure Hospital Pharmacy Services work across the county and beyond, providing a range of supply and clinical services within low, medium and high secure settings. Our pharmacy strategy positions pharmacists as clinicians and fully integrated members of the multidisciplinary team, optimising the use of medicines for our patients.

Rampton Hospital is located within beautiful countryside whilst being within easy reach of major cities and the stunning east coast. Parking on site is free.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a registered clinical pharmacist with an interest or experience in working in secure mental health settings. You will join a highly motivated and expert pharmacy team with responsibility for delivering a clinical pharmacy service to a mixed caseload of patients.

You will be based at Rampton Hospital (which provides regional services for males with mental illness or personality disorder, national services for women, and national services for males with a learning disability or who are deaf).

Our Rampton Hospital supply service is technician-led and medicines are provided from our Nottingham dispensary hub. We are just starting our journey towards implementing EPMA. We do not work shifts, weekends or bank holidays, but you will participate in the trust on call pharmacy service, which you will be remunerated for.

Due to the nature of the environment we operate in, the post attracts a high secure allowance payment of �3000 per annum.

Job responsibilities

You will have responsibility for a clinical caseload at Rampton Hospital, and work as an integral multidisciplinary team member. You will be encouraged to use your skills to influence and improve patient care via optimal medicines use. Your involvement in the clinical pharmacy services will allow you an exclusive opportunity to develop understanding and expertise in secure mental health settings.

Support to develop any extra skills you may require in our specialised areas will be provided. We actively encourage our staff to engage with relevant educational opportunities, including formal postgraduate qualifications, and we have strong links with the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.

Some time will be spent at other trust sites (mainly in Nottingham) for meetings, to work in the dispensary and Medicines Information services, and to maintain competency for on-call travel expenses will be reimbursed.

A full UK driving license and vehicle for business use is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MSc in Pharmacy (or BSc with additional experience)
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Diploma (or MSc) in a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Topic


Desirable

  • Current membership of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Current membership of College of Mental Health Pharmacy
  • Certificate or Diploma in Psychiatric Pharmacy


Experience

Essential

  • Clinical knowledge from aspects of career to date
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • A minimum of 2 years post-qualification and registration experience


Desirable

  • Experience of working within the Mental Health field
  • Project work
  • Audit experience
  • Evidence based medicine practice
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience of extended roles


Knowledge

Essential

  • Clinical Pharmacy knowledge associated with a Pharmacy degree course and vocational experience
