We are seeking to recruit 2 dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioners to work within a well-established Surgical Team.As part of the Surgical Division we currently have a Surgical Assessment Unit and 2 General Surgical In patient Wards.

We work closely with our UECC colleagues to assess patients and provide the right Management plan for our patients. You need to be reliable and committed to delivering a high standard of care to work within a successful a Multi-disciplinary Surgical TeamYou will be working in a well-established, forward thinking department that currently has 6 qualified ACPs and one trainee ACP who come from Nursing and Paramedic backgrounds. The successful candidate will be working a set work pattern on the FY1 and SHO rota.There is the opportunity to work within General Surgical Theatres assisting with Surgical procedure as well as working in an ACP led clinic.The department has an excellent track record of supporting both training and development of ACPs and provides robust Consultant supervision and a range of educational opportunities. ACPs are expected to participate in teaching, service improvement, and audit and have opportunities to develop procedural skills and special interests.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will practise autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care.

The post holder will support new ways of working that emphasise an efficient, patient focused service, and will ensure the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations across the specialty.

This exciting opportunity includes early assessment and clerking of patients, access to investigations, consultation, independent prescribing and liaison with medical, nursing, ACP and support teams.

The post-holder will be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and integrity to make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Education to MSc level or willingness to undertake.
  • APACS course.
  • Non-medical Prescribing.
  • Current level one NMC registration.

Experience

Essential

  • Presenting complex information to large groups.
  • Appraisal of others/ trainees.
  • Experience of autonomous/ advanced nursing role in an acute clinical setting.


Knowledge

  • Equivalent level of knowledge acquired without formal course of study.
  • Policies, practices and procedures e.g.NHS national policies, standards, requirements and directions that relate to measuring and improving the quality and safety of patient care.
