If you have a passion for paediatrics which focuses on excellent nutritional care and optimal patient experience, this could be the opportunity for you. This is maternity leave cover until April 2025 and can be either a 4 or 5 day role. This post is responsible for patients on Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) within Harrow community. This role is hosted by London North West NHS Healthcare University Trust and you will be part of the wider paediatric team of 7 dietitians. Your caseload will consist of babies and children in Harrow community on home enteral nutrition and you will review them across different settings as appropriate: community health centres, special schools, patient homes and hospital outpatient clinics alongside consultants. The role also includes a paediatric outpatient clinic at Northwick Park Hospital.
You will be a core and valued member of Harrow community multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The Harrow community paediatric service is run by Central and North West NHS Trust and therefore you will work closely with these colleagues and use CNWL systems for recording patient information and activity. To enable this your time will be split between the Northwick Park Hospital site and Harrow Community Sites: Caryl Thomas Clinic and Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care Centre. This will allow the provision of seamless care for patients and optimal MDT working.
Main duties of the job
You will be a core and valued member of Harrow community multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The Harrow community paediatric service is run by Central and North West NHS Trust and therefore you will work closely with these colleagues and use CNWL systems for recording patient information and activity. To enable this your time will be split between the Northwick Park Hospital site and Harrow Community Sites: Caryl Thomas Clinic and Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care Centre. This will allow the provision of seamless care for patients and optimal MDT working.
Your role will also include a monthly HEN nutrition clinic with the paediatric gastroenterologist, regular attendance at MDT meetings, supervision of a band 5/6 dietitian, participation in audit, research and service improvement projects and educating and training others on best practice in paediatric HEN.
The dietetic department at London North West is a large department split across 3 sites covering a range of specialities including critical care, head and neck surgery, gastroenterology, stroke, mental health, oncology and HIV. The department is welcoming, friendly and committed to continuing professional development through an established clinical governance programme, including evidence based clinical groups, audit and clinical supervision. We are a well-established student trainer, and the post will involve supervision of students in the clinical area.
