The post is accountable to the Lead IPC/Senior IPAC Nurse/Practitioner for the day-to-day Infection Prevention & Control management across NCH& C and to assist with on-going improvement in the quality of the patient's experience.

The post holder has a responsibility act upon standards of Infection Prevention & Control that fall below the acceptable standard and legislative responsibilities.

This position is involved in ensuring the trust complies with its legislative and licensing requirements, i.e. The Health and Social Care Act 2015, and for the provision of specialist advice and guidance for all health care professionals and support staff across the trust.

Person Specification



  • Diploma or 1st level degree or equivalent experience
  • Registered Nurse
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development


  • Diploma / degree in Infection Prevention & Control or working towards
  • Mentorship of learners



  • Evidence of post registration experience


  • Experience of working in community based services
  • Experience of working in IPC
  • IPC link practitioner

Knowledge Skills & Ability


  • Excellent Communication skills both verbal & written
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programmes.
  • Assertive and able to deal with colleagues, patients and the public at all levels.
  • Computer skills
