Are you a qualified and experienced registered pharmacy technician looking for an exciting new challenge?

We have an opportunity for an ambitious and forward thinking technician to join the Virtual Hospital in West Essex as an integral member of the Essex Partnership University Trust Pharmacy Service. You will join the team as a medicines management technician.

The team cares for acutely unwell patients in their homes. We enable patients to remain at home by preventing admissions to hospital and by supporting them to leave hospital early to continue their acute treatment at home. This includes usingremote technology to provide a safe alternative to hospital admission.

The post holder will provide medicines management support to the Virtual Hospital, including medicines-related care of patients, and participation in training and education. This is an exciting opportunity to shape services that will improve the experience of healthcare for the local population and deliver an NHS national priority.

You need to be flexible and have excellent communication skills and appreciate the need for professional development within your practice to ensure we establish a responsive and effective team.

If you are looking for a full-time job in a challenging post, this could be the role for you. The post includes participation in weekend and bank holiday dispensary rota. There may be opportunity to work additional hours elsewhere within the pharmacy team, as part of our staff bank.

Main duties of the job

Your role will involve delivering a medicines optimisation service in order to provide high quality, efficient pharmaceutical care to patients in the Virtual Hospital/Hospital @Home across West Essex and you will work closely with both the wider pharmacy team and the integrated Virtual Hospital teams to develop new ways of working and improve medicines optimisation. Ideally you will have a recognised medicines management qualification although training and support will be provided for you if not, as required.

Person Specification



  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
  • Accredited checking qualification
  • Current registration with GPhC
  • Medicines management/Medicines Reconciliation qualification or willingness to work towards
  • CPPE consultation skills qualification or equivalent


  • NVQ A1 workplace assessor or willingness to work towards

  • Driving licence / access to a vehicle for work
  • Methodical approach with attention to detail

  • Relevant post registration pharmacy experience
  • Experience as working as part of a multi disciplinary team
