An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic multidisciplinary therapy team. We are looking for a part-time Physiotherapist with a skill base and special interest in Vestibular Rehabilitation, for 10 hours per week.

The Community Neuro Team includes the Stroke Team and the Neuro outpatient Team, This role sits with the Outpatient pathway, working alongside other Physios, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Psychologists to meet patient needs within the East and North of Hertfordshire. The role will be primarily clinic based, but there may be occasions where home visiting is required.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a highly experienced team of specialist Neurological Clinicians, with opportunities for joint working. You will be responsible for managing the vestibular caseload (peripheral and central) and supporting the other members of the team in building their skill sets in this clinical area. You will also have the opportunity to see other patient groups to support the team, depending on urgency and need.

The post-holders will be responsible for the assessment and management of adults with a Vestibular diagnosis made by a Neurology or ENT consultant. Opportunities for further training will be available.

Job responsibilities

The Community Neuro service offers the following:* Regular whole service and local team meetings* Structured in-service training and support for external courses* Multidisciplinary team working* Regular clinical supervision and annual appraisal

We value our staff and see clinical supervision as a priority both through senior supervision and peer support models. Annual appraisal and personal objective setting is a Trust priority. The post-holder will also be involved in providing support for more junior members of the team including newly qualified therapists and therapy assistants.

Person Specification

Qualifications and training


  • Highly specialist knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent qualifications, further theoretical training and experience
  • Registration with HCPC
  • oExtensive experience working with neurological patients in rehabilitation settings.


  • oExperience with taking students and recent attendance at the relevant University training
  • oWorking towards/willingness to work towards a Master qualification
  • oRelevant post-registration training, E.G. splinting, Bobath, FND
  • oRegistration within profession specific special interest group E.G Specialist Section Neurological Practice

Experience and Knowledge


  • oWork as an autonomous practitioner
  • oEvidence of Continued Professional Development and reflective practice
  • oUnderstanding and application of the PT process with evidence of advanced clinical reasoning
  • oApplication of specific assessment techniques
  • oAssessment of patients, contributing to a diagnosis and formulating a treatment plan, from a range of modalities
  • oClinical problem solving
  • oUnderstanding of clinical governance and the implications for the service
  • oExperience of dealing with delegated management responsibilities within service area
  • oInvolvement in service development

Skills and Abilities


  • oAbility to assess patient conditions, including those of a highly complex nature, to establish a diagnosis and formulate a specialised treatment plan, from a range of modalities.
  • oHighly developed physical skills, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
  • oAbility to communicate complex and/or sensitive information requiring empathy and reassurance
  • oAbility to work collaboratively across professional and organisational boundaries.

  • oIT literate
