Are you a band 6 Physiotherapist or band 5 looking for the next step in your career? Do you have community experience? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join our service focussing on pulmonary rehabilitation.
The Community Respiratory Service is an integrated team of physiotherapists, nurses and support staff who deliver pulmonary rehabilitation, COPD optimisation, respiratory virtual ward, home oxygen and respiratory physiotherapy for people out of hospital. That may be in clinics, community venues or peoples homes.
You would be working with a team who are passionate about delivering community care to patients living with chronic respiratory conditions. There will be scope to learn more about pulmonary rehabilitation and quality improvement.
For internal applicants, this is a fantastic development opportunity for those looking at progressing their career as this will be offered on a secondment basis until 31st March 2025. However, application from external candidates will also be welcomed.
Main duties of the job
This post will primarily focus on pulmonary rehabilitation classes which are provided in a range of venues across North East Essex, however due to the overall aims of the team and to support effective team working, you may be asked to carry out home visits to patients for assessment/review within your scope of skills.
Due to the locations the service runs from, and need to take equipment, a car driver and access to a car for use during the work day (business use insurance) is necessary.
You should have skills in engaging with people and putting them at ease, and motivational skills. At times this requires a problem solving/asset based approach to helping people overcome barriers to pulmonary rehabilitation. You should have a good grasp of the principles of pulmonary rehabilitation and be familiar with, and able to discuss how to apply, the British Thoracic society guidelines for pulmonary rehabilitation. This is an exciting time for the service as we review and improve it to meet the standards for accreditation.
Currently the service runs 9am-5pm but due to expanding our pulmonary rehabilitation offer to meet the needs of the local population, please be aware that there may be requirement to work evenings (anticipated to finish before 8pm) during the length of this contract. We roster ahead so this will be planned.
