An exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and ambitious pharmacy technician to join the clinical haematology team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. This advanced clinical role is the first of its kind, acknowledging the clinical capabilities of the professional group.
The successful applicant will provide the interface between clinical staff in the haematology ambulatory and day case unit, patients and pharmacy. They will be required to confidently work across professional boundaries. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
This is a progression post band 5-6. There are two aspects to demonstrate the skills required for the band 6 level. High level service leadership and advanced clinical skills. The latter includes completion of BTEC level 4 diploma and following competencies, the ability for autonomous verification of selected chemotherapy prescriptions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and self-motivated pharmacy technician who is keen to build on their existing clinical experience to develop this new role.
Some previous experience in haematology or oncology is desirable, high level of expertise in an alternative clinical area would meet the essential criteria.
The successful applicant will join an established team of dynamic pharmacists and technicians providing specialist pharmaceutical care to patients in haematology services.
Our current team have specialist roles in CAR-T, BMT, clinical trials, advanced care and prescribing.
Main duties of the job
To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the Haematology ambulatory and chemotherapy day ward unit. This will be in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal Pharmacist.
You will contribute to the pharmacy departmental service and the out of hours service as per standard commitment.
