This is a very senior tier management role within the Finance Directorate with the post holder forming part of the Senior Finance Management Team who will be expected to lead the financial management team within the department.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, the post holder will take lead responsibility for the financial planning, budgeting and reporting for the whole Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • CCAB / CIMA qualified with significant post qualification experience and active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), working at a senior management level for a number of years.
  • Masters degree or equivalent experience in a senior and strategic finance role.


Skills

Essential

  • High level numeric skills, competent in processing and interpreting data.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Sound understanding of software packages.
  • Excellent IT skills.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of Joint Venture and subsidiary Accounting
  • Knowledge of strategic and business planning processes.
  • Knowledge of capital investment appraisal techniques.
  • Knowledge of Payment by Results.
  • Knowledge of costing techniques and health service reference costs.
  • Knowledge of private patient services
  • Knowledge of Performance Management Processes.
  • Knowledge of NHS Data Definitions.


Experience

  • Substantial experience of managing staff at a senior level.
