The directorate of trauma and orthopaedics at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a deputy directorate manager to form part of the directorate operational team. This role will work closely with clinicians, managerial colleagues, nursing leaders as well as members of the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will join a service that is transforming the way it delivers its services to support elective recovery and the joining of the orthopaedic service at North Manchester into the directorate of trauma and orthopaedics

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job are:
  • Operational delivery of the single trauma and orthopaedic service across MFT
  • Performance and resource management
  • Financial management
  • Human resources management
  • Clinical governance

The postholder will also be responsible for any other reasonable tasks at the request of the directorate manager

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Graduate or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Managerial qualification equivalent to post-graduate diploma


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of specific area acquired through a degree or equivalent experience or training.
  • Highly specialist knowledge of managing within an NHS healthcare setting.
  • Highly detailed knowledge and experience of managing capacity, demand and activity.
  • Knowledge of managing staff within a healthcare setting and experience of managing a directorate.
  • Knowledge and experience of project/programme management.


Training and experience

Essential

  • Experience of and demonstrable achievement in managing healthcare services.
  • Management of resources with a good track record with change management, efficiency savings and financial recovery plans.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services.
