Manchester Royal Infirmary is recruiting a Lead Transformation Manager who will play a crucial part in working across the hospital on our transformation and improvement programmes.

The postholder will be a key member of Manchester Royal Infirmary's Transformation Team which is responsible for providing leadership and delivery of transformation programmes and projects, and Building A Culture of Continuous Improvement across the hospital. Our current Transformation Plan includes programmes focused on Urgent and Emergency Care, Outpatients and Theatres transforming services, driving productivity and efficiency, delivering Value for Patients and optimising the potential of Hive, our single electronic patient record system which went live across MFT in September 2022.

Main duties of the job

What we are looking for:
  • A credible Transformation Manager with strong change programme and project management experience and demonstrable leadership skills
  • Knowledge of improvement methods and proven track record of problem solving, creating ideas and implementing service and/or quality improvements
  • Skills in using improvement methodologies and data to understand and improve processes
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as supporting, coaching and motivating staff to drive forward continuous improvement
  • Experience of design, management and delivery of transformation and improvement programmes
  • An ability to pass improvement skills onto others through formal and informal training.
  • Good communication skills, demonstrating oral, written and presentation skills with a high degree of personal credibility and sensitivity.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development


Desirable

  • oEducated to Masters Level or equivalent level of experience (eg Business, Management, HR)


Experience

Essential

  • Proven track record of delivering change projects and Project Management Experience
  • Practical experience of Change Management
  • Examples of facilitating collaborative working
  • Proven planning and organising experience
  • Performance management including monitoring of delivery to timescales
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, to analyse data and draw out key issues and Powerpoint to present and communicate to a wide audience


Desirable

  • Examples of leading on service improvement/workforce redesign projects
  • Examples of leading multi-disciplinary team projects including senior clinical staff


Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work multi-disciplinary environments
  • Highly developed, negotiating and influencing skills, overcoming barriers to understanding and acceptance, and reaching agreements
  • Experience of working in a NHS trust or a similar healthcare setting
  • Understanding of NHS Information Systems
  • Knowledge of NHS data models
  • Knowledge of complex administrative processes
  • Knowledge of workforce re-design or service improvement methodology/tools.

  • Experience of devising training and development plans to support sustainable change
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control
