An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Charge Nurse on our General Adolescent Ward, Longview at The St Aubyn Centre in Colchester.
The St Aubyn Centre is a 25 bedded Child and Adolescent Unit and comprises of two Wards. Larkwood Ward, the regional 10 bedded PICU. And Longview Ward the 15 bedded General Acute Ward.
The St Aubyn Centre is fortunate to have an extensive MDT and on site Education department and is part of The East of England Provider Collaborative.
Main duties of the job
As Charge Nurse on the Ward the main duties will be to uphold the high standards of the ward.
To oversee the Nursing team and provide supervision and guidance to junior staff.
The work closely with the Ward Manager, Clinical Lead and Service Manager to maintain high standards.
To ensure the ward is compliant with the CQC Key Lines of Inquiry and QNIC Standards.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The post holder is responsible for the holistic assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care for clients with Mental Health needs referred to the service. At all times upholding and teaching the Recovery model and reminding mindful of all physical health needs and social inclusion ensuring that anti stigma is upheld.
JOB SUMMARY:
The post holder works under the overall supervision of the Ward Sister/Ward Charge Nurse, but is required to undertake the duties of the post without direct supervision. They are required to teach of other nursing and non-nursing staff allocated to their particular area. The post holder is designated as the person to take charge regularly in the absence of the Ward Sister/Ward Charge Nurse, with prior in agreement with that person, undertaking defined managerial responsibility for the ward. In addition, the post holder will be expected to take a key role as lead on the clinical practice within the area, will demonstrate good leadership skills whilst ensuring robust standards of care are in place, including physical, mental health and social needs ensuring theses are implemented and evaluated.
Patients, relatives, carers and other staff will find the post holder flexible, approachable, helpful and co-operative with other staff, upholding the ethos of SEPT of good customer care at all times with an awareness of own attitude at all times.
