A consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist is required for our two CAMHS Adolescent Emotional and Behavioural team (EBT), based in Bedford (split 50:50).

CAMHS are part of the ELFT Specialist Services directorate, providing assessment and treatment of young people with mental health disorders up to the age of 18 years.

All ELFT CAMH Services comprise a number of multidisciplinary teams based upon care pathways including:

- Adolescent Mental Health Team- Emotional & Behavioural Team(s)- Neurodevelopmental Team (Learning Disability and Autism +/- ADHD)- LAC / Targeted Team

Our EBT provides assessment and treatment to young people (0-17 years) presenting with a range of significant and enduring mental health problems including psychosis, bipolar disorder, severe depression and OCD.

The post-holder will be expected to offer contributions to the wider clinical leadership, the multi-disciplinary team, to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment where clinically appropriate and case management of high risk presentations.

The Trust is a financially stable progressive mental health and community services trust with very strong clinical leadership at all levels of the organisation.

ELFT have an exciting opportunity for a vibrant Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our CQC rated Outstanding Foundation Trust.

Working from our Bedford based clinic you will be joining a group of dynamic psychiatrists where you can maximise your own individual area of specialist interest within our varied clinical care pathways in Bedfordshire CAMHS.

You will be responsible for direct psychiatric assessment, formulation of treatment plans, leading MDT clinical discussions and helping to influence service delivery at SMT forums.

We believe that the costs associated with relocation should not restrict our ability to recruit the staff we need; if you are joining our Trust then we could support you with this by offering up to £10,000 for removal and associated expenses.

Person Specification Communication and Interpersonal Skills Essential

Education Essential
  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCPsych parts 1&2 or equivalent

  • Section 12 approved and Approved Clinician status or willing to apply for approval
