Are you an experienced Mental Health Practitioner (RMN, Social Worker or OT), who wants to work in an interesting and dynamic role alongside Thames Valley Police as a Mental Health Practitioner? Looking for a new, fulfilling and rewarding role? Then come and join the Oxford Street Triage Team. The team are currently based at Cowley Police Station Oxford, Hours of work are 16:00hrs - 02:45hrs. This post is fixed term for one year mat leave cover.
You will work closely with the frontline police officers to provide triage, assessment and signposting for people in their care who appear to be in immediate need of support for their mental health. The post requires you to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to work effectively in partnership with TVP. The post will give you an opportunity to use your clinical skills and expertise to support Children and Young People, Adults and Older Adults who come into contact with the police when there is a concern for mental well-being, and ensure necessary information sharing and signposting to appropriate support.
The TVP MH Practitioner role is part of the Mental Health Urgent Care Pathway, which includes Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT), SCAS Triage, the Warneford Night Team and the Emergency Department Psychiatric Services; you will be actively encouraged to develop and maintain your skills by working across the other parts of the service and contribute to developing the whole service.
There is an increasing role within the post to work with TVP neighbourhood and problem-solving teams proactively contributing to multi agency planning for people with mental health needs who come into contact with the police.
If you are someone who enjoys interagency working, within busy and often challenging and stimulating environments, and you have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, and you are enthusiastic and motivated to implement change and develop the service, this is the job for you.
