We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Deputy Ward Managerfor our Inspire CAMHS Inpatient Unit.

Inspire consists of Orion which has 9 General adolescent beds (including a High Dependency Area) and Nova a 4 Psychiatric intensive care beds, both deliver a progressive and innovative service model from a newly built state of the art building. The service has recently received 2 national Design in Mental Health Awards for Project of the Year New Build 2021 and Clinical Team 2021.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Ward Manager to continue to develop the service and lead the nursing team. You will have excellent communication / time management skills. You will be invested in supporting staff teams to work alongside young people to ensure they remain the managers of their own care. The services model is working towards the team intervening with a young person within a social and developmental context, creating a systemic change which leads to effective and sustainable outcomes.

All successful candidates will be offered a comprehensive and structured development package and informal clinical and professional development. Clinical supervision and facilitated reflective practice are key elements of this.The service operates the shift model of Long day and Night shifts across at 7 day period.

Main duties of the job

You will have demonstrable management experience and will offer clinical leadership and management support to the nursing team with the aim of delivering high quality care to young people across the two ward environments. You will manage the rosters, sickness absence and annual leave. You will chair the Ward Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews. You will organise and chair regular Team Meetings. You will lead on incidents reviews and investigations. You will deputise for the Ward Manager and support the Senior Leadership Team in the development and review of policies and procedures.

Person Specification Experience Essential
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
  • Evidence of development of specialist practice nursing skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
  • Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation
Desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of working in the specific field where the post is held
  • Development of specialist/advanced level of practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
  • Leadership/management experience which has had a positive impact and created change within the service delivery/practice
Qualifications Essential
  • On Part 111 or 13 of NMC live register
  • Post registration/graduate diploma or equivalent experience in related work area, to demonstrate advanced level of practice
  • Demonstrable experience of mentoring pre-registration students
Desirable
  • Evidence of CPD or experiential learning at a n advanced level e.g. Post graduate/masters level
  • Leadership training/qualification/experience
Knowledge Essential
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion
  • oFull understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
Desirable
  • oEvidence of project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrates a higher level of communication/planning/change that impacts within own area of work/responsibility
