The Clinical Nurse role will be part of the Sutton CAMHS Single Point of Access provision in the London Borough of Sutton, to help and support the Child or Young Person at their most vulnerable time.

You will be based in the CAMHS Single Point of Assessment assisting with assessment and sign posting ensuring Children and Young People reach the most suitable pathway within the locally agreed time frames.

Another key function will be to support the integration of assessment where Children and Young People present with Mental Health / Emotional Well Being where there are also social contextual issues. The role will complement liaison between CAMHS and partner agencies.

An excellent opportunity for a Nurse to develop their CAMHS Nursing expertise by assisting the integrating of CAMHS with partners and stakeholders, helping to enhance the young person's journey.

Main duties of the job

  • To be based in the CAMHS Single Point of Access (SPA) assisting with assessment and sign posting ensuring Children and Young People reach the most suitable pathway within the locally agreed time frames
  • Have an agreed job plan with specified activity and throughput levels with the Clinical Consult Psychologist for Sutton & Merton CAMHS
  • To directly provide therapeutic support, assessment, consultation and treatment, taking responsibility for managing own caseload, while sharing case responsibility and treatment care with professionals from within CAMHS and across partnership agencies such as Children's Services.
  • To contribute to specialist multi-disciplinary self-harm assessment and treatment / intervention.
  • To provide consultation and supervision to professionals working with children and adolescents for risk management advice

A Registered Nurse with an established clinical nursing background who has successfully completed a period of academic education and clinical supervision to be competent against the RCNs competency requirements for a Senior Nurse Practitioner.

Evidence of significant post registration education and development at degree level or equivalent

In depth current post-registration nursing experience within a clinical speciality Extensive

knowledge and expertise across a number of areas e.g. clinical, infection control, nutrition, safeguarding

Significant professional leadership, professional development, clinical governance and supervision and appraisal

Current knowledge of relevant professional and NHS policy initiatives within the clinical speciality

Evidence of understanding and developing nursing policy and practice, education and research within the context of a multidisciplinary setting

Person Specification Training & Qualification Essential

  • Evidence of understanding and developing nursing policy and practice, education and research within the context of a multidisciplinary setting
  • Evidence of contribution to practice and service development and the ability to translate strategic intent into operational reality
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving skills and information handling skills
  • Evidence of the ability to challenge and change practice.

  • A demonstrable knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice in specialist area
  • Experience of effective redesign and improvement methodologies
