Palliative Support Nurse - Band 5
Permanent role
37.5 hours per week, part time will be considered
Due to internal promotion this is an excellent opportunity to join our expanding and developing team.

Coventry Specialist Palliative Care Team provides Palliative Care for people with an advanced progressive illness in order to improve quality of life for patients and their families. The team strive to work in a multi-disciplinary, integrated way to offer the best possible care. We regularly undertake audit/surveys and are involved in national research.
The team consists of a Consultant in Palliative Medicine, a doctor in training, a Clinical Psychologist, a Head of Service, a team of 8 Specialist Palliative Care Nurses, a specialist Occupational Therapist, a specialist Physiotherapist and a Technical Instructor. In addition two Palliative Support sisters and a team of palliative health care assistants deliver hands on personal care to patients in the last weeks of life. We work closely with GP's, District Nurses and other local services such as Myton Hospice.

In order to support the end of life pathway and ongoing Out of Hospital work streams we have identified a need for four band 5 nurses with palliative skills to support new referrals into the service and co-ordinate a rapid response to patients in their own homes and care homes. The service currently works between the hours of 8.00am to 10.00pm with a requirement to work over 7 days per week.

- Registered General Nurse
- The successful post holder must have the ability to lead and direct the palliative support team in the absence of the Palliative support sisters & under the direction of the Head Of Service
- Be confident and competent to offer nursing care to patients and carers including pain management / symptom control / Syringe driver knowledge
- Good organisation and communication skills are vital to this post
- At least has some experience in a palliative care setting
