Are you looking for an exciting and challenging opportunity to develop your skills in working across the interface of primary and secondary care?

We are looking for a hardworking, self-motivated and conscientious person to undertake the role of Lead Technician for Medicines Information.

You will work as part of the medicines information team alongside colleagues based within all the organisations across the MSE footprint. Your main responsibilities will be the on-going support to the work programme of the Mid Essex Area Prescribing Committee and MSE Medicines optimisation and safety group to assist in the development of a Joint Formulary to ensure equitable access of medicines across the Mid & South Essex health community. This will include being responsible for reviewing, updating and maintaining the formulary to ensure it is in line with current evidence and cost effective prescribing.

You will work with primary and secondary care clinicians in a variety of ways which may include developing prescribing guidelines andresearching information includingcritical appraisals of medicines submitted for inclusion onto the joint formulary.

You will also have the opportunity to support the clinical teams in the development, review and implementation of effective patient pathways across the interface to optimise patient care and collaborative working.

Main duties of the job

Lead Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Information & Formulary
  • To co-ordinate the production, maintenance and publication of documents relating to formulary decisions.
  • To work alongside the Medicines Information pharmacists in providing clinically accurate, timely, up to date, and evaluated information on request, to the Pharmacy department and Trust healthcare professionals.
  • To act as a checking Technician as stated in departmental procedures.
