This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a large Finance Team for an Acute Trust. The post holder will be responsible for managing the Income & Contracting and Overseas Visitor teams and leading the negotiation, monitoring and reporting of the Trust's Health Care Contracts with Integrated Care Board's (ICB's), NHS England (NHSE) and Local Authorities (LA's). The role will also be responsible for the oversight of the non-commissioner contracts including Inter Provider Agreements, Education income and Research funding.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead on the Trust's contract negotiations with ICB and NHS England contracts, providing support to the Deputy DoF and CFO as required.
  • Lead on the completion of the required contractual paperwork, including in year contract variations as agreed.
  • Provide an oversight role to the wider non-clinical income, including inter-provider agreements, private patients, education and R& D.
  • Ensure the Trust activity and income monitoring system is appropriately maintained and developed to provide robust monitoring information both internally and to Commissioners.
  • Provider senior leadership support to the Overseas Visitors Team and support in the developed of programmes aligned to National Legislation.

Person Specification



  • CCAB Accounting Body
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development



  • Minimum of three years experience in management accounting/contracting work
  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience
  • Ability to translate and understand the risks/opportunities of NHS Finance policies
  • Experience of a large complex public organisation along with an understanding of the organisation
  • Supervision of staff


  • Working experience in an acute NHS Trust.
  • Experience of process mapping.
  • Knowledge of NHS Standard Contract and NHS Payment by Results

Interpersonal Skills


  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
  • Needs to be dynamic and in addition to providing financial support, needs to be able to participate in the discussion of ideas and plans.
