The post holder will be required to manage and deliver a comprehensive cancer information and support service within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust for people affected by cancer including patients, carers, family and friends, as well as health and social care professionals.The post holder will also support the Corporate Cancer Nursing team in providing a leading role in the continuing implementation of the Personalised Cancer Care Programme across MFT.

They will be required to provide a specialist information and support resource for health and social care professionals, offering expertise to enhance the skills and knowledge of the clinical teams and support clinical teams with the implementation of the Personalised Cancer Care agenda in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.

Main duties of the job

  • Drive innovation, facilitate collaborative working and provide effective programme leadership and management to deliver the Macmillan Strategy and Personalised Cancer Care agenda.
  • To work closely with the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Services at MFT to coordinator services and facilitate collaborative working whilst embedding personalised cancer care in the centres.
  • Continue to further develop and co-ordinate information and support services across a range of settings within MFT.
  • Work with the Macmillan Corporate Cancer nursing team to ensure improvement plans related to personalised cancer care are implemented to achieve quality outcomes, productivity, access and improved experience for people affected by cancer.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of Masters level study in relevant area (health/social care) or equivalent standard or qualification or evidence of proven experience.
  • Further management qualification to postgrad diploma level or equivalent or willingness to work towards
  • Communication skills training Enhanced / Advanced
  • Evidence of CPD


Desirable

  • Project management methodology qualification e.g Prince2
  • Recognised counselling qualification


Knowledge

Essential

  • Current health or social care leadership role
  • Significant experience working within cancer services/care
  • Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff / patient groups
  • Proven service transformation/project management involving multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience of networking and influencing across organisational boundaries and facilitating collaborative networking
  • Performance management including delivery of successful projects within expected timeframes


Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with evidence of collaborative working with key stakeholders within and outside of an organisation
  • Evidence of diplomacy and negotiation skills
  • Good analytical skills and experience of using data to understand service delivery identify risks and formulate recommendations
  • Ability to formulate comprehensive high level reports
