We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Applied Psychologist to provide a psychology service within the Learning Disability CAMHS service across Teesside. The post will involve working in the community within the supportive and collaborative multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to young people and their families experiencing a wide range of difficulties. The post holders will offer supervision, advice, consultation and training to other members of the LDCAMHS team, and will play a key role in continuing to develop the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working of the team. Service development ideas and innovation in the role are encouraged and welcomed. The successful candidate will be under the support and guidance of the Consultant Psychologist within the LDCAMHS service.

Experience of working with young people and families is important, as well as the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with our multi-agency partner organisations.We are keen to support the ongoing development of Psychologists through training and CPD opportunities. The post holder will receive regular supportive supervision and work closely with psychology colleagues based both within the LDCAMHS team, but also across the wider psychology team in CAMHS within Teesside. There is a strong psychology network across the trust and within the CAMHS directorate. The service provides training placements & teaching for the local DClinPsy & DCounsPsy courses.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • rained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience Essential
  • orking as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
  • Teaching, training and clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.
Knowledge Essential
  • Evidence- based practice relevant to the role
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
  • Risk assessment and risk management
Skills Essential
  • Communicate highly complex and highly sensitive information effectively, to a wide range of people
  • ork effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake care co-ordination/lead practitioner responsibilities
  • Utilise psychometric tests competentlY
