We are excited to have the opportunity to recruit an 8a Highly Specialist Psychotherapist to join our growing older people's secondary care Psychological Therapies team.

The successful candidate will be embedded in our MDT with opportunities to work across the clinical settings.

You will work alongside a team comprising Clinical Psychologists, trainee psychologists and assistant psychologists.

Main duties of the job

Our friendly team are committed to continuing professional development and self-care. We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology training courses within the Northwest region. Besides becoming a member of the older people's secondary care psychological therapy team, you will be encouraged to make links with psychological therapists working in services across the Trust e.g., through attending psychology professionals' meetings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities To adhere to all Trust and psychological therapies policies, protocols, guidance and values. To be aware of good governance and innovative practice. To be part of and also initiate research and audit in line with service development and service promotion. Communicate in highly skilled and sensitive manner information concerning assessment, formulation and treatment plans of service users. Effectively communicate professional opinion, verbally and in writing to Service Users and referrers. To be committed to establishing meaningful relationships with third sector partners and to develop joint group and workshop activity.AFC 14/6/22 JME-107-22 Highly Specialist Psychotherapist Band 8a Contribute in and lead in relation to planning and writing of information material for Service Users and other stake holders. Ensure Safe Guarding Children/ Adults issues are addressed effectively and within policy and procedures. To practice in ways that is appropriate and sensitive to needs of a diverse Service User group. To be respectful of others and their opinions. To maintain high standards of clinical record keeping and to adhere to policies and procedures as defined by the Older people's secondary care psychological therapy service and Pennine Care NHSFT. To show flexibility and to be prepared to change as service needs change. To be responsive to reasonable management requests. To be proactive in managing the waiting list to groups and workshops in line with service standards.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential
  • Masters plus qualification in training / experience to doctoral level.
  • Eligible for UKCP / BPC registration
Desirable
  • A recorded / registered qualification in one of the following; nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or within a psychological therapy.
  • Qualification in supervision
Experience Essential
  • Experience of providing individual psychotherapy in NHS settings.
  • Experience of working with service users who are reluctant to engage and find change difficult.
  • Experience of working with diverse and complex service users
  • Experience of providing supervision
  • Experience of providing consultation.
  • Experience of providing management in the statutory or non-statutory field.
Desirable
  • Previous service working within older people's psychological therapy servicesExperience of joint working with other public sector services e.g. social care, criminal justice, employment and / or third sector providers
Knowledge Essential
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive working relationships with people from a wide range of background experiences
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills into practice on a service scale
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including presentation and report writing skills.
  • Excellent therapeutic and engagement skills as an individual.
  • Proven and demonstrable change management skills.
Desirable
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of the broad range of national policy and guidance relating to older people's mental health, employment, social inclusion and social care
