Main duties of the job About the role:
The ideal candidate will have a commitment to teamwork, a sense of accountability, plus an ability to work under pressure. The post holder will provide quality evidence-based nursing advice, support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting. You will be responsible for supporting and leading on the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care on night shifts, and will have a good level of knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.

- To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the evidence-based care required, including health promotion for a named service user/group ensuring it meets Trust timescales.
- To participate in the setting of quality standards, including the monitoring and reviewing in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications Essential
- Registered Nurse Mental Health (RNMH) or other specialism relating to post such as Registered Nurse Learning Disability (RNLD) or Registered Nurse Children's (RNC) NMC registration
- Post graduate qualification relating to ward specialism
- Experience of in-patient services and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Basic level of dealing with service users with complex mental health needs
- Lived experience of mental health
Skills & Abilities Essential
- Effective communication skills both verbally and written, including IT literacy (MS Office). Ability to work as part of a team, as a role model, empowering and motivating other team members
- Effective time management and organisation skills
- Ability to use own initiative, to enable contribution to a multidisciplinary team approach
Knowledge & Understanding Essential
- Awareness of safeguarding issues and responsibilities under relevant legislation
- Basic understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
- Understanding of the Care Programme Approach (CPA)
- Basic understanding of legislation relating to care including - Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Act, Children's Act, Equality Act 2010, Health and Safety Act and the Data Protection Act
- Willingness to follow instruction but also able to question and challenge
- Physically able to undertake a demanding role safely, as and when required
