We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and reflective 8a psychologist to take an important role in supporting the Individual Funding Team to take a formulation informed approach to finding and maintaining the correct placements for people. The individual Funding Team is responsible for managing mental health funding for external packages of care, such as locked rehabilitation placements, residential care, supported living and therapies or treatments that cannot be provided internally by Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

For this post, we are looking for someone with experience of using robust psychological formulations to enhance the care offered by themselves and the wider MDT. Experience of working indirectly and systemically with staff teams, placements and other multi-disciplinary colleagues would be an advantage. As would a recovery or rehabilitation ethos. We are also looking for someone who is keen to offer 1:1 clinical supervision, peer supervision/reflective practice and teaching to others.

Supervision and line management for this post is provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for the Recovery Pathway (interim). There are monthly meetings with psychologycolleagues in the pathway to discuss cases, receive CPD and explore organisational issues. Job planned time for training and research is available and encouraged. There are a significant number of psychologists within NHFT working across different specialties and there are also excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly trust wide psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. The Trust enjoys good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses.

The population the Individual Funding Team works with is diverse, including people with enduring mental illness, personality disorders, forensic histories, developmental disorders, dementia, and neurological difficulties. The team is working towards using outcomes-based commissioning, where psychological formulations based on a broad range of theories are required when making decisions about where someone is referred to and how placements are assessed. The Psychologists role in the Individual Funding Team is divided into two main functions: supporting the contracting of new placements to ensure they meet individuals psychological needs, and working to prevent placement breakdown, through assessment, formulation and evidence based intervention/training. The main duties for this role include:

• Participating in weekly referral meetings to discuss eligibility of referrals
• Attending professional, clinical, MDT meetings and CPAs
• Offering supervision and consultation to team colleagues and where appropriate an assistant psychologist.
• Supporting the development of outcomes-based commissioning within the service
• Developing robust psychological formulations for service users, incorporating psychological theory and evidence.
• Creating care plans incorporating clear SMART goals, upon which the provision offered by providers can be contracted and assessed.
• Offering training and psychoeducation
• Conducting formal psychological assessments where appropriate (e.g. developmental/neuropsychological)
• Providing brief psychological interventions (e.g. behavioural management plans).
• Conducting service evaluations, audits and research.
• Liaising closely with other services, including the Community Recovery Team, PCART, older adults CMHT and inpatient services.
