An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit to Cornwall's Urgent Care and Minor Injury Service.

We are interested in interviewing aspiring practitioners from nursing and other allied health professions with a passion for unscheduled and minor injury care.

You need to have good communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent care as part of the Urgent Care and Minor Injury teams. You must be responsive to change and be flexible in your approach. A sound knowledge of professional issues will be required.

This role will be locality based and extend across a combination of minor injury and urgent care facilities. You will receive training in all aspects of diagnostic assessment and management in minor injury & illness.

These posts are for full-time positions but part-time requests will be considered.

Main duties of the job

This job role will cover minor injury units in the West of Cornwall. There will be an expectation to provide cover across Camborne/Redruth, Helston, Falmouth and Isles of Scilly.

To deliver, under supervision, effective minor injury services to patients utilising an evidence-based approach.

Responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care in a practitioner-run MIU. Appropriate supervision will be provided by Band 6/7 MIU practitioners.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications B6 Essential
  • Professional qualification relavent to post
  • Current professional registration - NMC
  • Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations certificate
  • Post graduate specialist training to degree level in relevant subject area which must incorporate minor illness
Experience B6 post Essential
  • Substantial post registration practice in MIU, ED/Emergency Care or similar; education and training including mentorship
  • Sign-off mentor qualification or being willing to work towards this qualification
Qualifications B5 development Essential
  • Current professional registration - 1st Level NMC/HCPC
  • Knowledge of developments in health care locally and nationally
Desirable
  • Professional qualification - NURC 315 or equivalent academically recognised minor injury qualification
  • Post Registration Education and Training
Experience B5 development Essential
  • Post-registration experience - hospital/front line experience in an urgent care environment.
Desirable
  • MIU/ ED experience
  • Community Hospital Experience
