A secondment opportunity for maternity leave cover is available for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Surrey-wide Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People in Epsom in the Autumn.

You will be joining a well-established and supportive community service with a wide multi- disciplinary team and expanding nursing team. The nursing team is well established with band 5-8 nurses with a range of experience and knowledge. There will be learning and training opportunities within the team and we will support you with your development within the role. We follow the 2015 NHSE community eating disorders Access and Waiting Times Guidelines and Standards; and believe in early and fast intervention for all young people.

Your role will involve working with young people and their families, providing interventions and therapy alongside other professionals involved in their care. You will be given training and support to enable you to deliver Family Based Treatment (FBT) for Eating Disorders in accordance with NICE guidelines. We believe this is an exciting opportunity to develop clinical skills including; assessments, physical monitoring, family based treatment and working alongside our wide MDT to support recovery of young people with Eating Disorders.

Experience of working directly with families, young people and enabling families to re-feed their children is desirable but you will otherwise be given training on this. You will take an active role in the mental and physical health of the young people under our care and will monitor all physical perimeters. You will have the responsibility of managing your own case-load and will be involved in delivering care to our Tier 4 indicated clients, with a goal of preventing admissions where possible and facilitating smooth transitions to and from inpatient care. This will at times require travelling to and from family homes, inpatient facilities and medical units; driving and car ownership is therefore essential for this post.

The service has hugely expanded over the last 2-3 years and we are now recognised as a nationally top achieving service with some of the highest outcomes. We are a really friendly and dynamic team and are CARE Excellence accredited.

The service currently operates between Monday – Friday (9am - 5pm) with further extended hours a possibility moving out of the pandemic. We currently work with a mix of face to face and online depending on the need and wish of the young person and the family. Flexible and part time hours will also be considered.

It is essential that you are a car driver and have use of a car as you will be required to attend CPA’s for your clients.
