The post sits within the BNSSG Wide Complex Emotional Needs service which is a newly developed service currently leading on the role out of structured clinical management within recovery teams in BNSSG. The team also offers supervision, consultation and training and supports the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions alongside the associated psychological therapy / complex psychological intervention services.
The initial task for the post holder is to provide clinical supervision and support alongside Plymouth University to four apprentice clinical associate psychologists to complete their course. The next stage will be to plan the future of their permanent band 6 posts across BNSSG to support the delivery of intervention, training and supervision for service users with a diagnosis or needs associated with complex emotional needs (personality disorder). The post also has excellent opportunities to deliver evidence based psychological interventions for this service user group and develop the role further once the CAPs have completed their course.
Main duties of the job
This post is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the improvement of services for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucester (BNSSG).
This is one of two AWP posts to introduce, supervise and evaluate the introduction of Clinical Associate Psychologists as well as provide a specialist clinical role. The clinical associate psychologists are nearing completion of their course which would allow time to evaluate and be creative with this role.
The role gives the opportunity for the development of both leadership and specialist therapy skills with support from the BNSSG PD clinical lead, colleagues in local psychological therapy services and the Head of Psychological Therapies. You will be a Clinical Psychologist with experience, hope and enthusiasm in working with Service Users with complex mental health problems including those with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder (also known as complex emotional needs).

Job description Job responsibilities CLINICAL
1. To provide a high quality and largely autonomous and systematic clinicalpsychology service .
2. To undertake highly specialist assessments, including neuropsychological assessment , risk assessment and assessment for suitability for specialist psychological therapies with clients and their carers ( as appropriate to the role).
3. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
4. To be responsible for providing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
5. To provide at least one specialist evidence based psychological intervention as dictated by the needs of the service
6. To provide highly specialist consultation to members of the various teams in the area and beyond regarding formulation and psychological management of clients of those teams.
7. To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the more effective management of patients by teams.
8. To be involved in the development and delivery of training within the Trust.
9. To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the service.

4. To promote the use of effective interventions in the service. TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT
1. To provide supervision for clinical psychology trainees from regional training courses and elsewhere as appropriate.
2. To provide training, supervision and consultation in psychological approaches to other staff in multidisciplinary teams. This is to include joint assessment, formulation of psychological problems and planning of interventions to be implemented by other team members with service users.
3. To contribute to the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care across service settings through providing teaching, training, consultation and supervision.
4. To provide training and supervision to assistant psychologists .
5. To participate in peer supervision arrangements for psychologists in the area.
6. To collaborate with colleagues to develop and offer training courses, workshops and supervision groups to develop psychological skills for staff in the area.
7. To contribute to the teaching of students and trainees in psychology, medicine, nursing and other health care disciplines.
8. To agree a plan of personal development with the line manager and professional lead for the service. SERVICE / POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Doctoral Clinical Psychology qualification or equivalent.
- Eligible for Chartered Psychologist status.
- Post qualification and further specialist training in specified specialist intervention.
- Relevant R&D or clinical audit work post qualification
- Evidence based therapeutic interventions with client group.
- Psychological assessment skills and knowledge.
- Experience of risk assessment and management
