The St Aubyn Centre is a 25 bedded Child and Adolescent Unit comprising of two Wards. The 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Ward, Larkwood, and the 15 bedded General Acute Ward, Longview.

An opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team on Longview Ward.

The St Aubyn Centre boasts and extensive and highly qualified Multidisciplinary Team made up of Family Therapists, Nurses, Psychologists, Education staff and Occupational Therapy.

We support young people in the region aged 13 to 18 who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake occupational therapy assessments for all young people who are under the care of The St Aubyn Centre, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling them in areas of self maintenance, productivity and leisure.
  • To work with clients to identify therapeutic goals, as part of their overall multidisciplinary care plan.
  • To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the service users and other professional colleagues using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
  • To monitor and evaluate treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention and to ensure outcome measures are recorded at the appropriate time intervals.
  • To provide community outreach to young people admitted to the unit if and when required e.g. in a young person's home or in the community in a variety of settings in liaison with other professionals/teams.
  • To undertake risk assessment and risk management for young people attending the unit ensuring the MDT is aware of risk plan.
  • To organise and facilitate individual/group outings/activities locally encouraging young people to participate in community activities.
  • To act as a key worker for client caseload
  • To participate in clinical projects/teaching across CAMHS and on behalf of CAMHS services.
