Secure Inpatient Services (SIS) have an exciting opportunity for 2x RGN / RNA to join our service and be part of an innovative team of Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses within our Elderly Ward specialising in physical health and palliative care.
This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme.
SIS are seeking staff nurses from all disciplines to continue to provide excellent care and support the changing needs of our patients. This innovative post will allow collaborative working amongst Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN / Registered Learning Disability Nurse's (RLDN) and Registered General Nurses (RN's) to expand on the knowledge and skill set to enhance and support the expanding Multi- disciplinary team approach and bring exciting joint working and development opportunities to our teams and service.
Main duties of the job
Mallard Ward is a 14 bedded male low secure forensic ward.
The purpose built unit offers an environment that incorporates physical adaptations to support activities of daily living , offering particular support and reassurance to patients that experience some level of physical infirmity. The ward team are experienced in assessing and managing both physical and mental health problems.
We are looking for registered nurses to work alongside RMN / RLD nurses for the day to day running of the ward , support with physical healthcare and frailty needs.

The Secure Inpatient Service provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability or autism who exhibit behaviours of concern to others and to themselves. The service provides individualised, comprehensive packages of care within Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings and has links to High Secure services and prisons.
The ethos of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of assessments, treatment, intervention planning and rehabilitation to enable a person-centered recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner.

Qualifications

- Competency in ECG and venepuncture or willingness to work towards this in an agreed timescale.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Manage own time and prioritise effectively
- Co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team
- Motivate and work positively and assertively with other members of the team. Provide (within agreed timescale) effective teaching, training, and clinical supervision.
