Community Interventions Pathway (West Shropshire) – Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Ludlow – the Trust are committed to supporting staff with a blended approach of home and office working, and therefore this will be negotiated within this role.
We are seeking an experienced, skilled and enthusiastic psychologist to join the Community Interventions Pathway team in West Shropshire. We provide secondary mental health care to a large population including Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Ludlow and surrounding areas. Local mental health services include a single point of Access team, a Crisis and Home Treatment team as well as a Psychosis pathway, Early Intervention in Psychosis Team, Intensive Life skills pathway.
Multi-disciplinary team working is central to the role. We are establishing a formulation led programme of interventions including DBT and CBT informed psychoeducational group interventions as well as individual work. You will be involved in providing teaching, supervision and consultation to other team members as well as working directly with service users and their families. You will take a lead in the development and provision of additional psychoeducational group interventions along with MDT colleagues.
Applicants should have previous experience of working in mental health teams in the NHS and knowledge and skills in working with people who present with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
Applicants should be qualified in Clinical or Counselling psychology and ideally will have additional accreditation in at least one therapeutic modality.
The post holder will receive regular line management with the pathway operational lead, along with professional supervision with the senior psychologist in the pathway on a regular basis. We value clinical supervision within the service and this will be an integral part of the support offered to the post holder. The care group supports regular training and continuing professional development.
You will work closely with other psychologists who use a range of approaches including CAT, CBT, and EMDR, systemic and psychodynamically informed work. We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate course at Stafford University and the Counselling Psychology Doctorate course at Wolverhampton University and regularly offer trainee placements.
The base for this post will be Severnfields Health Village in Shrewsbury, although will be expected to cover the West of the county, in particular the Oswestry area.
