An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 8b Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to lead the Psychological Therapies Team within our Eating Disorders Service. The post holder will join a friendly and well established team made up of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, a CBT Therapist, Assistant Psychologists, a Research Assistant Psychologist, a Family Therapist and an Art Therapist. Our team provides a variety of assessments and evidence based therapeutic interventions, including CBT-ED, MANTRA, SSCM, CBT-T and systemic family therapy and art therapy. The psychological therapies team at St Ann's is well respected within the service and provides assessment and evidence-based treatment across all parts of the service including inpatient, outpatient and the day program. This is a great opportunity to oversee the therapy provision across the eating disorder service.

As a Psychological Therapies Team, we take pride in working together to maintain a supportive and friendly workplace where we can all deliver quality treatment for our patients as well as creating a welcoming atmosphere where we are happy to work.

To support the work, we do, we have fortnightly CPD sessions on a rotating basis, which includes reflective space for the team. In addition, there is a monthly reflective practice space on the inpatient ward and in the community team, and a Clinical Improvement Group where the whole service meets monthly.

Main duties of the job

The role will entail providing oversight of the Psychological Therapies Team. The post holder will provide operational and clinical supervision to the senior Psychologists in the outpatient team as well as the Psychologists that work on the inpatient ward and the Research Assistant Psychologist. They will also be providing line management to the Family Therapist and Art Therapist. There is a weekly Psychological Therapies Team meeting which is chaired by the Lead.

There will be collaborative working with the outpatient/service manager to review waiting lists and there will be close working with other members of the multidisciplinary team, for example the ward manager, the day programme Lead and the consultant psychiatrist in order to maintain the effective delivery of psychological therapies to the different parts of the service. The post holder will also offer a supportive therapeutic space for nursing staff on the ward, which historically has been well received.

This post would be suitable for someone who is passionate about eating disorders and wants to make a real difference in the lives of those suffering with eating disorders. It will also need someone who is well organised and is able to manage several workstreams at once. A team player will also be essential to enable collaborative working with the other managers in the service.
